Francis RTM Boyle is an adjunct instructor at Brown Mackie College Cincinnati, received his MFA and M.Litt in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature in Performance from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, after graduating summa cum laude, and member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society from the University of Rhode Island, where he studied Theatre.
Francis is a recent addition to Time Out New York’s freelance book critics, and his words have been lovingly appropriated by Random House as well as Amazon.com. He is a member of the Cincinnati Playwright’s Initiative, and is writing several plays. With his wife, Angie, he co-founded Good Grief Shakespeare in 2009, and they directed the first of many productions, starting with Romeo & Juliet. Francis has worked in almost every role the theatre affords – acting, directing, stage management, playwriting, costuming, etc.
Francis is currently formulating a paper on “Shakespeare’s Liars,” and has a suspicion about an informal contract that existed between the audience of that era and their poets. His focus is on the difference between the treatment of truth and deception in Shakespeare versus modern drama.
Brown Mackie College has honored him with the “Outstanding Adjunct Faculty” and “Beacon of Light” awards. He is a recipient of the Drama Program Award at the University of Rhode Island, and his plays have been seen in New York City as well as in Virginia.
Fresh off of playing Petruchio to Angela’s Kate in Taming of the Shrew, and directing a staged reading for CPI, Francis will direct Judgement at Nuremberg in November.
