OK, for those of you who know me, you may (probably) know that I’ve been in a bit of a lull between work gigs for the last year. The programming language that’s been my bread-and-butter for the last two decades has, well, fallen out of the mainstream.
C’est la vie.
So a decision had to be made…
And thus, over the course of the past two months, I’ve worked on regaining my teaching credential. And once that was in the books (or in the computer records again), I’ve applied to a couple of local school districts as a substitute teacher (I’m still waiting to hear back from my old high school district…but the job posting only closed last Thursday, so who knows).
Why do I mention all of this? (other than to fill a day’s worth of blogging?)
Well, tomorrow is my first subbing gig.
It’s been nearly 21 years since I’ve been in a classroom as a teacher. Nervous as hell. But if I like it, I’m seriously considering going back to the classroom full-time in the fall.
So if entries come a little inconsistently in the next few days/weeks, you’ve got a good idea why…
Tomorrow, back to the Bard with “This Week in Shakespeare”…then we’ll wrap up the plot synopsis of Cymbeline with Act Five on Wednesday!
