ONE NIGHT ONLY: Shakespeare-In-Hospitals Program Kicks Off 2017 Season With “Bonne Chance Bash”
All-Star Artists Celebrate The Healing Power of Performance in Opening Soiree

TORONTO, ON – On Sunday, October 22nd, in the back room of the Imperial Pub, The Shakespeare-In-Hospitals 2017 Program will open its most ambitious season yet. Nine talented emerging and established artists will construct an entirely new story using Shakespeare’s canon to explore themes of identity and adaptation for patients in hospitals across Toronto.

To prepare the team to work and perform in unique spaces like hospital waiting rooms, “all the world’s a stage” as, true to form, the ensemble brings the show beyond the stage and throughout the backroom space. The ensemble will be joined by past alumni, who will share stories and experiences from previous seasons, as well as a truly talented magician. Together, the ensemble and guests will explore the following question: “How much of who we are is left up to chance?”
The night’s lineup of artists includes Stratford veterans Eli Ham and Ash Knight, indie festival veteran Chloe Payne (Fake Nerd Girl), Film/TV star Christopher Kelk and indie Shakespeare theatre stars Melanie Leon and Felix Beauchamp (Caesar, Wolf Manor Theatre). This unique combination of artists promises to shake up Toronto’s definition of Shakespeare while exploring what it means to heal.

Rounding out the night will be DJ SINergy and a secret silent auction – with a fancy ribbon-cutting ceremony to boot. Grab a cheap drink and send these amazing artists off in style with some hearty well-wishes, all in the name of the Bard!
