Call for Papers: Shakespeare: Sources and Adaptation

The University of Cambridge in collaboration with the Association of Adaptation Studies and the Cambridge Marlowe Society will host a conference titled “Shakespeare: Sources and Adaptation” in Cambridge, UK, September 9-11, 2011. Speakers will include Stephen Greenblatt, Carol Ann Duffy, Michael Rosen, and Helen Cooper. Sessions presenters will include the RSC new writing department and Theatre Royal Bury. The conference coordinators have issued a call for academic papers and practical or educational workshops on the following topics:

  • Beyond Shakespeare Adaptation
  • Shakespeare for children and young people
  • Shakespeare’s Classical sources
  • Shakespeare’s Historical sources
  • Shakespeare in Art
  • Shakespeare in Music
  • Shakespeare on film and television
  • Foreign language adaptations of Shakespeare
  • Shakespeare’s influence on contemporary playwrights
  • Shakespeare in 20th and 21st century fiction

By December 1, 2010, send proposals for academic papers to Gabriel Egan, proposals for practical workshops to Abigail Rokison, and proposals for educational workshops to James Stredder.
