This fall semester, I’m co-teaching a course in Shakespeare & Criminology with one of my colleague’s at Fayetteville State University’s Department of Criminal Justice. The course will coincide with our fall MainStage production of Hamlet, which I’m directing.
My colleague and I have a basic direction — looking at criminology and criminological frameworks by using several Shakespeare plays and scenes to help do so. We hope to fold in some elements of the Shakespeare-in-the-prisons projects.
We could use your help in narrowing and isolating texts, scenes, questions, resources, and experts for use in our course. Please feel free to comment here with your thoughts. We’ll be sure to credit any we use in the class and will make the syllabus available for you to examine once the semester is underway.
