Elm Shakes Offers New Classes | O, What Learning Is!

The Elm Shakespeare Company of Milford, Connecticut will launch new performance classes for high school students and adults this fall. The company, which already offers middle and high school level classes, plans to begin sessions on October 3 at Southern Connecticut State University.

elmshakes20 The Shakespeare Standard shakespeare newsElm Shakespeare staff and a professor from SCSU will lead the sessions on Saturdays: Introduction to Acting will begin with the October 3 slot and will cover movement, technique, text, and voice. Performing Shakespeare on November 7 will offer work for “any level of Shakespeare practitioner, and is tailored to individual need.” Saturdays in December and January will add two College Audution master classes that will cover auditioning, monologues, and resumes.

Claire Kimball earned her Master of Letters degree in Shakespeare and Performance from Mary Baldwin College. She has served as a dramaturg for the American Shakespeare Center and Brave Spirits Theatre. Claire has presented her research to the Shakespeare Association of America, the Blackfriars Conference, the Southeastern Renaissance Conference, and the Comparative Drama Conference. Her essay on developing a rehearsal technique for early modern drama appeared in Renaissance Papers 2008.
