Making of Hamlet: Part 2

By October 19, 2016 No Comments

This rehearsal happened all throughout a Saturday in July, about two weeks before the first preview.   Honest Pint ran through the whole play, with only a couple of stops for quick notes and (of course) food. Some of my personal favorite moments were actually offstage, in the wings, while actors either goofed off or ran over their lines for the one millionth time (or some combination thereof).

The icy Queen Gertrude, portrayed by Tamara Farias. It was a wonderfully surprising to find out that the people playing the manipulative king and queen were actually the sweetest, most approachable people you will ever meet.

Rosencrantz and gentle Guildenstern.

Rehearsing for the musical interludes during at the beginning of each act (it was incredibly good–the kind of music that takes physical restraint not to sing/tap along).

Yorick could be found in various places around the theatre when he wasn’t making his appearance on stage. I wanted to start a ‘Where’s Yorick?’ series (like Where’s Waldo, but more Shakespearean).

After a long day, the company was one step closer to the first preview.  We think Yorick was excited with the progress, but who can tell, really?

Make sure you check back in next week for the first preview!
