OK, been a pretty long time since I wrote about The Tempest (save for the video reviews). I’m trying to wrap my head around what I’ve read, and where I wanted to go with it.
When I was first starting to plan out the rest of this Tempest-talk (and, man, that was almost THREE MONTHS AGO), I figured to talk a bit about staging dilemmas (something that seems to be a given in these Romances), some dramaturgical issues, some scene breakdowns, a look at the whole father/daughter thing, and some on genre. Back then, I wasn’t too sure how much I was going to talk about the whole colonial/post-colonial thing…but now that I’m back in the Masters-program saddle–and taking, funnily enough, a course on Post/Colonial Encounters–I feel the need to at least touch upon it.
But I really feel out of practice. Not sure how much justice I’m going to do to this play…
