OUP Launches ‘Illuminating Shakespeare’
Today, Oxford Unversity Press (OUP) launches “Illuminating Shakespeare.” The webpage, found within the OUP website, focuses on all aspects of Shakespeare studies with monthly themes. According to The Bookseller, each month will feature a new introductory video essay from leading Shakespeareans. “Illuminating Shakespeare” will also introduce blogs, glossaries, infographics, and quizzes geared toward students, teachers, audiences, academics, and anyone with an interest in the playwright.
We’re delighted to be able to open up such a wealth of content to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, and have taken great pleasure in both delving into the archives and commissioning anew to underline the continued relevance of Shakespeare’s works to readers of all kinds. – Sophie Goldsworthy, OUP editorial director (The Bookseller)
The website’s launch will mark 2016 as the four hundredth anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. Subjects of interest include film, recommended books, Shakespeare’s women, and resources specifically for schools and librarians.
