Shakespeare Summer Youth Intensive in Greater Boston — taking applications now!

By February 3, 2011 No Comments

The Actors’ Shakespeare Project is pleased to announce the return of its Summer Youth Intensive. If you are unfamiliar with the Actors’ Shakespeare Project, we are a Somerville, MA, based group who maintain that Shakespeare’s words are urgently relevant to our times. We seek to spread the message of Shakespeare through both educational outreach programs and intimate productions around the Greater Boston area.

One such outreach project is the Summer Youth Intensive – a dynamic 3-week program that culminates in a 75-minute production of Othello directed by resident company member Jason Bowen. With a focus on language, movement, and voice, our company members will work with youth to explore and express the powerful, rich language and heartbreaking story of Othello. There will also be specialty workshops in stage combat. This intensive is suited to all teens ages 14-17, regardless of experience with Shakespeare. Plan ahead–spots fill up fast!

Program Details:

Begins Tuesday, July 5th at 9:00AM

Runs Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-4:00PM at The Charlestown Working Theater

Culminates in a performance of Othello on Monday, July 25th
