Merchant of Venice ComicThis has got to be one of the most awkward moments in Shakespeare. Gratiano just doesn’t know when to shut up. Portia¬†clearly¬†has the final couplet here, but Gratiano just has to step in and insert his foot very neatly into his own mouth. Three times in a row.

I believe it was a Ralph Allen Cohen lecture from years ago that inspired this particular comic. Thanks, Ralph!
